DAY 2 ICELAND

We arrived at the Raddison Blu 1919 at about 8:00am Iceland time after a 40 min bus ride from the airport.  The ride along Iceland's coast was surreal. The landscape is barren, rocky, and the land is covered in small amounts of greenish grey moss.  Peter our guide says in geological time this land is new like a babies backside and over the years the mosses will make create soil and larger plants will take root.  Trees are a rare to see here because the land is so new. 

The hotel here in Reykjavik is clever and sleek.  Some of the architecture here in Reykjavik seems modern with a twist.  Peter did say during our walking tour that people can paint their homes and buildings whatever colors they choose.  WOW! This country truly is independent.  Also crime is very very low and I have not seen a police vehicle or person since we arrived. Icelandic is the official language spoken here but nearly everyone speaks English as well.  The Icelandic words and language are very difficult for me to pronounce and understand.
